Anyone familiar with the seasons in New Jersey knows that it can really be a roll of the dice when it comes to scheduling anything outdoors in March. Even though the calendar might officially announce spring, often times nice weather doesn’t arrive until several weeks into April. When this family reached out, to schedule a maternity session, we knew we would have to play things by ear, making sure the forecast would permit us to be outside. We were prepared to reschedule if another nor’easter decided to roll through, but luck was on our side and it turned into a cool, but pleasantly sunny afternoon.
Sayen Gardens was the perfect location for this family, providing plenty of pretty backdrops and fun nooks and crannies for their young son to explore. I imagine that children feel like they’re on an adventure when there, discovering the many gazebos, trails, fountains, ponds and bridges. It helps to keep little ones engaged and prevents boredom when they can participate in some photos and then continue to investigate what’s around the next bend! I love getting them excited saying, “wait until I show you this really cool spot with the giant fish!” That usually sparks a lot of interest and brings kids back who might not have been ultra enthusiastic about taking more photos with mommy and daddy! 😉
Back to this session…This mama to be was so stunning in her blue lace maternity dress! What a trooper she was to brave the chilly temps all in the name of style! Take a look at the images we captured of her and her beautiful soon to be family of four.

There’s nothing like that mama-son bond! You can feel the connection between them.

This little boy has the absolute BEST smile and personality! He’s totally going to rock being a big brother!
